Troscan’s Ennis Dining Chair is the first piece of furniture with which I fell in love…
Years went by and I would come across sad copies of this chair; the back legs missing the sexy curve or the back of the chair feeling too weighty and therefore taking way any chance of sustaining a refined profile. These experiences further cemented my interest in playing with furniture design myself, leaning on all of these observations but also an intuition I felt.
Happy to now present you with the top dining chairs I have loved & chosen for clients over the years (it is quite unfortunate the Ennis chair has been discontinued).
First off, and possibly the most important piece, is the Louis Ghost Chair, designed by Philippe Stark. I believe this chair ends up in at least 75% of my projects. Around a dining table: yes. One in an entry: yes. One in a bedroom corner: yes. In a stairwell: yes. In a vanity area: yes and yes. It an example masterful and timeless yet playful design. PS, this chair is always going to cost over $350, even on sale, so don’t be fooled by the copies that are widely available.
Next is the Bruno Chair by Costantini Design. I love this kind of rugged yet elegant profile. The back hits you just right to be comfortable and supported. And the solid rosewood craftsmanship is rare and beautiful.
Ok ok, yes I’m biased. This is my Declan Arm Chair. I love the swoop of the arm. I love the curve of the back and that little brass detailing you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. And it’s crafted in solid walnut so it’s dense and feels great. PS Side chair is coming soon…email us here to be the first to preview it!
A nice simple chair with a great fabric is an easy go-to. Widely available, obviously, but never trendy, just elegant. I chose this version for the beautiful wood tone and the pop of gorgeous royal blue.
A Klimos chiar. So elegant. Oly Studio has this great version that is customizable. Very well detailed and the proportions and quality are on point.
As always, don’t hesitate to leave a comment or a question!
