Well welcome to “My Dining Room”, take 1! This will focus on my recently renovated dining room in Houston, TX…however we recently moved to Charlotte, NC so I’ll create a post on that design as well. I still can’t decide which one I prefer!
Many of the elements are the same from new to old, but the mood has very much changed.
I began the design with selecting this sophisticated farmhouse dining table from CB2 (and now there is a cute round version as well). The size worked perfectly in this room, which is actually meant to be the family gathering room off the kitchen. (PS anyone interested in behind the scenes of this space planning decision…lmk!).
Secondly I wanted a loungey space. So next came these two settees that frame the windows perfectly. I snagged these at West Elm on sale and miraculously they were, to the inch, the right size, AND on sale. Admittedly, I’ll need to punch up the seat height in some way. But they are very comfortable. I will most likely add just a thin foam layer under the cushion.
I wouldn’t call Ghost Chairs the most loungey I suppose but I do love them. I think I have used them in every project; and they are much more comfortable than they appear to be. The way the morning light and then evening candlelight hits them is so lovely as well.
Walls were kept white, as an extension of the open kitchen. I chose Toque White by Sherwin Williams.
Finally, this stunner of a piece is by Francine Turk.
Would love to know what you think about how it came together and can’t wait to share more of the new room!
xoxo,
